Some days parenting can seem like one long to do list. Supervise your child's homework and then run to a football game. Make parenting easier with proper organization.
Start with being organized. Organization allows a parent to know where everything is without having to constantly play hide and seek for it. By carefully arranging items in their proper place make life less stressful and parenting far easier. Storage EssentialsSurvey the house. Storage is essential. Children should have a special place to call their own where they can keep their things. A parent should have a place where a parent can keep track of daily obligations. Keeping clothing clean, fitted and in one place is vital for many parents. Begin by looking through a child’s closet. Throw out clothing that isn’t being used. All usable clean clothing should go back in drawers. Dirty clothes should be stored in a hamper until laundered. Wicker is ideal because it allows fabric to get air circulation. This helps reduce long term stains. Give each child a basket to call their own. Consider purchasing closet organizers to help children store clothes. Such organizers can double closet space and reduce the temptation to scatter clothing on the floor. Schoolwork is another area that benefits greatly from organization. Ideally children should have their own desks and folders where they can store assignments. Homework should be placed in a folder to be checked each day. A desk is also a great place to store school supplies that may be kept at home for assignments. Scissors, pens, paper, paperclips, markers, pencils and notebooks can look great when set up together in a colorful corner of a child’s room. Put up a corkboard on the wall with pushpins where photos and awards can be stored and displayed. A child can gain a great sense of pride from seeing his accomplishments in full view everyday. School papers are important to parents as well. Flyers announcing a PTA meeting, school bake sale or monthly hot lunch items should be kept in a file folder. Label each one with a child’s name for quick access. For each new grade consider making a new folder. This will give a sense of a child’s progress over time. Use CalendarsAnother excellent necessity is a calendar. Calendars can help keep track of exactly what’s happening each day. Consider purchasing one that’s erasable. Use it to write in exactly what needs to be done each month. A parent can remind themselves to send in money to pay for school lunches and have a place to remember this well in advance. A calendar can also help check to see that a daughter’s gymnastics lessons aren’t in weekly conflict with a son’s basketball practices. Use proper organization techniques such as organizers and calendars to help make life easier. Take advantage of ways to organize clothing, school papers and even time and make parenting tasks less stressful.
